If you are interested in Mackintosh's legacy, visiting this house is a real must. Located in Helensburgh (about half an hour train ride from Glasgow), the house, its gardens and its interior decoration are beautifully preserved and show some of the best work by Mackintosh.
His attention to detail, his role as integral architect (he designed most of the furniture) and his powerful style, a bridge between late art nouveau and the emerging modernism, makes this house his finest creation.

Helensburgh is a great place to plan a one-day out from Glasgow. It has some beautiful architecture, a nice promenade and a couple of good fish-&-chips places that make it worthy.
